The Maltings
The existing malting dates back to 1848 and had most recently served as a sorting room for the Post Office. Modern additions had blocked the views of the plot from the river walkway and the site hadn't been used in a decade adding nothing to the historic riverscape.
The demolition of these out buildings opened up views into and out of the site and a new extension, more sympathetic in scale to the malting, added new activity and life to the riverside.
A rework of the existing structure brought new life to the malting with 11 new dwellings giving the building a new lease of life.
